9/24 - Marie Antoinette
Sunday (9/24) we’ll be screening Marie Antoinette from 2006, written and directed by Sofia Coppola and starring Kirsten Dunst as Queen Marie Antoinette in the years leading up to the French Revolution set at the Palace of Versailles.
This screening was chosen by our friend Izzy:
Sophia Coppola’s Marie Antoinette is a history textbook page smeared with Lip Smackers lipgloss, stained with tears and perfume. It is hazy, rose-colored, and melancholy. Coppola is critical and compassionate all at once, a perspective likely flavored by her roots as American cinematic royalty. Filled with sumptuous, sugary imagery and soundtracked with dreamy pop music, Marie Antoinette is an all-around audiovisual treat.
Marie Antoinette will be playing at Working Room on Sunday, September 24th. Doors will open at 7:30 PM and the movie will begin promptly at 8:00 PM!
If you’d like to contribute something, a beverage donation to the studio fridge is always so appreciated! ☆ or a Marie Antoinette-themed treat, perhaps?
