8/30 - Scarecrow
Wednesday (8/30) we’ll be screening Scarecrow from 1973, an American road movie directed by Jerry Schatzberg and starring Gene Hackman and Al Pacino. The film follows Max (Hackman) and Lion (Pacino) who travel from California to Pittsburgh as they plan to start a car wash.
This week’s movie was chosen by Levi:
Al Pacino, fresh off of his performance in The Godfather, and Gene Hackman, recently starring in The French Connection, join forces at the height of both of their careers in a low-budget road movie which I thought would be a great watch to close the summer out in retrospect of all of the trips people have been on. I think Director Jerry Schatzberg has a very unique way of portraying vagabond/street culture for a movie made around that time as seen in his most recent film Panic in Needle Park.
Scarecrow will be playing at Working Room on Wednesday, August 30. Doors will open at 6:30 PM and the movie will begin promptly at 7:00 PM! ☆ Please note that this is an hour earlier than usual. ☆
If you’d like to contribute something, a beverage donation to the studio fridge is always so appreciated! <3
