7/27 - Raising Arizona
Thursday (7/27) we’ll be screening Raising Arizona from 1987, directed by Joel Coen and produced by Ethan Coen, starring Nicolas Cage and Holly Hunter.
The Coen brothers — director Joel and producer Ethan — deliver this bouncing baby picture with nods to Monty Python, comic Sam Kennison, the Gerber Baby and the Road Warrior. It is a wacky, happy, daring, darkly comic tale of parenting outside the law. It celebrates the middle-of-the-road dreams of decidedly off-center folks. It's a bundle of joy.

Absurdity to me is a beautiful gift, and Raising Arizona is a farce that will make your stomach hurt and pull at your heartstrings with its deepest sincerity. It is beautiful and lush in the laughter and heart of it all. A very special movie that I have escaped into countless times. I hope a lot of you will enjoy it, I am very excited to share it with you!
