4/3 - Alice in the Cities
Tonight, Wednesday April 3rd, we’ll be watching Alice in the Cities (1974) directed by Wim Wenders, starring Rüdiger Vogler and Yella Rottländer.
Ahead of our feature, we’ll also be playing a new short animation by Corrinne James.
Tonight’s movie was picked by our very own Piper:
Alice in the Cities is a film near and dear to my heart! It is human & melancholic in its simplicity, characters and places. For a road movie that spans multiple continents, my favorite easter eggs include: (1) the fleeting windshield view of passing through 1973 Richmond, VA’s West Broad Street (hello, Channel 6 WTVR), and (2) rare footage of the much later-discovered/magical to me, German folk singer-songwriter Sibylle Baier as she sings softly on a boat . . . I can’t wait for a rewatch! Enjoy!
Alice in the Cities will be playing at Working Room tonight Wednesday, April 3rd. The doors will open at 7:30 and we’ll begin the movie promptly at 8:00.
