12/28 - A Moment of Innocence
After a 2 month hiatus, screenings at Working Room are back <3
We’re starting off the new season with a movie that’s really special to me, A Moment of Innocence, directed by Mohsen Makhmalbaf from 1996. The movie is a docufiction retelling of the director’s own experience of stabbing a police officer when he was 17 years old.
“Cinema can reconstruct a memory, or even better, turn it into something greater. If you allow it, chance will collide with the truth in every frame. An image can strike such moments of tenderness amidst rage and defiance: A girl, a flower, a piece of bread, the sunlight.” — Victoria Linares Villegas
I’ve never seen another movie quite like this, and it was among the few that sparked my obsession with movies a few years ago, so I’m really excited to revisit it with my friends.
A Moment of Innocence will be playing at Working Room on Thursday, December 28th. Doors will open at 7:00 PM and we’ll begin at 8:00 PM! RSVPs are appreciated, but not required.
